WINTER

Goryu is located in the Hakuba Valley which is in the heart of the Japanese Alps.

With a backdrop of 3000 metre peaks, the area recieves an average snowfall of 11 metres.
The valley is home to a range of different resorts including -
Goryu/Hakuba47, Happo one, Iwataki, Tsusaiki, Norikura, Cortina, SunAlpina(3 areas), Yanaba,
Minikata and Highlands.
All these areas are accessable from Snowbird. Hakuba was the Alpine Skiing location for the 1998 Winter Olympics.

 

 

Goryu and Hakuba47 share the same lift pass, opening up a large and varied area on our doorstep.
From easy beginner areas, to long cruisers, to challenging bump runs, with reliable snow falls there is something for every-one.
Local back country guiding services open up huge areas of challenging untouched powder.

Snowbird will assist you with ticket options, equipment rental, and local transport.

Local Attractions - All Year

While in Hakuba there are a number of local attractions we would recomend you see.

Zenkoji Temple and the Snow Monkeys.

Both can be accessed via an organised tour, or you can DIY by bus. Snowbird staff will organise either.

 

Matsumoto Castle

One of Japan's National Treasures, Matsumoto Castle, and the Matsumoto Museam are accessed by train from our local station. The town of Matsumoto has plenty of local art and craft shops to make a day trip a possibility.






SUMMER

The Japanese Alps are a beautifull place for a Summer holiday.
From the Spring wild flowers, to the Summer trekking and the spectacular colours of Autumn, Hakuba offers a unique Alpine experience.
Things to do include:
Mountain biking, Trekking, Rafting, Canyoning, Paragliding, Fishing and wildlife tours.

Mountain Bike tours and trail rides are organised by Snowbird staff.
